Newfoundland and Labrador is connected with the rest of the world by land, sea and air transportation.

 

Labrador is connected to mainland Canada and separate from Newfoundland, the island portion of the province. Newfoundland, home to the province’s capital city of St. John’s, is nestled in the Atlantic and connected with the rest of the world by sea and air transportation. There are a number of international and national airlines that provide daily service to your destination of choice.

Ferry Services connect the island portion of Newfoundland to Labrador and mainland Canada.
Marine Atlantic provides all season passenger and vehicle ferry service from Newfoundland to Nova Scotia. The Intra-provincial Ferry Service provides detailed information on ferry schedules between the island of Newfoundland and mainland Labrador.

 

The Trans-Canada Highway runs throughout the island of Newfoundland. There are also secondary highways connecting the communities of the province.  If you wish to lease or rent vehicles, there are a variety of companies that offer standard and automatic transmission vehicles. Taxi service is also available.

 

DRL Coachlines operates within the island portion of the province. City transit service is also available in larger centres.

 

The tourism industry in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador is becoming a vastly important and growing industry. Its rich history and diverse culture offer uniqueness found only on these shores.

From May to October there are a number of cruise ships that visit various ports in the province.
