Employment Development Supports


 

To be eligible for Employment Development Supports individuals will:

  • be receiving or eligible to receive income support benefits;
  • be interested in, or ready to return to work but may require work supports and services;
  • be non E.I. eligible which is defined as:
    • currently not receiving E.I. benefits:
    • have not received E.I. benefits within the last three years; or
    • have not received E.I. maternity or parental benefits within the last five years.

Description:

Eligible individuals, through the development of an employment plan, will identify what they need in order to achieve employment. An Employment Plan may include:

  • Job Search Counselling and Supports (i.e. job search, interview skills, resume writing) - These types of supports may be delivered either individually or in group sessions.

  • Short-term Training - Where programs are not eligible for funding by Student Aid, individuals may obtain funding to pay for short-term training in an area linked to potential employment.

  • Other Supports - Other supports identified in the employment plan may be available to assist with employment.
